Welcome to the internet home of the Lake County Green Party. We are a local group of the Illinois Green Party. Our mission is to uphold the Ten Key Values of the Green Party through political action and activism.

Our policy is to hold regular meetings the third Tuesday of each month. We have not kept up with this schedule lately, partly due to a lack of suitable meeting space. Any ILGP members or supporters who have access to, or know of, suitable meeting space in Lake County please get in touch with John at jborland@lakecountygreens.org.

Call for volunteers!

We have several volunteer positions that are currently vacant.

• State Coordinating Committee representative
  This representative provides communication between the local and the state party, and helps direct decisions at the state level by advocating for the local's positions on specific issues. Time commitment: 2-hour conference call with the coordinating committee once or twice a month, as well as attending local meetings for 1 hour a month.
• Local Meeting Coordinator
  Arranges meeting space for monthly local meetings (available free to the public at most public libraries) and attends local meetings. Minimum commitment 1 hour/month.
• Precinct Committeemen
  Precinct committeemen play an integral part of orchestrating the Green Party Presidential bid in the 2008 election cycle.
• PETITIONERS!
  Gathering signatures for ballot access is the bedrock of political activism in our electoral system. This is how we get candidates on the ballot, which is the first step to getting them elected. If you have a way with people and like to make a difference - we need you.
  

Experience is not necessary for any of these positions. Anyone with some free time and a desire to make a difference is welcome. Contact John at jborland@lakecountygreens.org if you would like to get involved.
