Lake County Green Party

The Lake County Green Party is a young organization, and as such presents unique opportunities for anyone who wants to get involved. A small amount of time and energy can have a huge impact at the local level. In addition, the growth at the state and national levels of the Green Party means that there are a lot of opportunities to get involved in high-profile events such as the upcoming presidential election cycle.

If you'd like to help at the local level, here are some of the activities you could get involved with.

David J. Kalbfleisch campaign for U.S. House of Representatives, Illinois 10th District

Visit Dave's campaign website at www.electdave.org. This is a very exciting campaign and it is a top priority for our local. Petitioning for ballot  access begins August 5th, so get in touch ASAP to stay up to date on planning and developments.

Membership

To effectively participate in activities such as the Kalbfleisch campaign, we must expand our membership and help to expand Green Party membership at the state and national level. The best way to do this is to be active in the community and be visible at public events. Community activity is covered in more detail below. Visibility at public events can be accomplished by "tabling": setting up a volunteer-staffed table to distribute literature, sell green party merchanise, and - most importantly - talk to people about the things we care about. If you know of any events in your area where we might be able to reserve a spot, please let us know - and then come join us!

Community

Being active in the community is more than just a way to get our message out - it is a way to live according to our values. The Lake County Green Party can provide a platform from which to organize volunteer activites that directly impact the things in your community that you care most about. Get in touch with us and share your ideas - this is a great opportunity for new members to take a leadership role.

Communication

We need help publicizing our events and communicating effectively with our members. We've had lots of ideas for this web site - adding maps and government information, keeping up with legislation & public hearings and the like - and we don't have the manpower to keep up with it. Volunteers are needed not only for the technical aspects of communication but also for the work of gathering publicly available information.

Please contact John Borland at jborland@lakecountygreens.org to get involved!
