Lake County Green Party

March 11, 2006

The first meeting of what was to become the Lake County Green Party.

April 17, 2006

The Lake County Green Party is officially recognized as a Green Party Local by the Illinois Green Party.

On June 26, 2006, the Illinois Green Party turned in over 39,000 signatures to get its executive slate of candidates on the ballot in the 2006, November general election. On July 3, 2006, the Democrats filed an objection to the petitions. The Illinois Green Party successfully defended its petitions before the Illinois State Board of Elections.

The results of the 2006 general election have legally established the Illinois Green Party as a statewide political party in Illinois. Many thanks to everyone who assisted with this effort! Candidates on the statewide slate were:

  • Rich Whitney for Governor
  • Julie Samuels for Lieutenant Governor
  • David Black for Attorney General
  • Dan Rodriguez-Schlorff for Treasurer
  • Karen Young for Secretary of State
  • Alicia Snyder for Comptroller

Our mission to grow the Green Party and get involved in politics at all levels continues. E-mail us to find out how you can help, either with your time or a donation or both! For more info, see www.ilgp.org.
